Investigators announced this week that troopers stopped 46-year-old Esmelyn Hernandez’s Chevrolet Impala for a violation of vehicle and traffic laws on I-84 in Southeast. During the subsequent stop, it was determined that he was in possession of an illegal weapon, which was loaded.
Hernandez was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, both felonies. Following arraignment, Hernandez was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is due back in the Town of Southeast Court later this year to answer the charges.
